Safety Coated Lamps

Safety coated lamps are most often found in food preparation, food service and construction applications.  The use of a safety coating on a light bulb or fluorescent tube is simply to contain the glass particles should the lamp shatter for any reason.  Typically these coatings are manufactured in either a silicone or teflon version.  Almost any lamp may be safety coated with the limiting factor being the operational heat generated by the light bulb.  While the heat issue does not affect fluorescent lamps it does limit the coating of incandescent lamps to 300 watts or less and in HID lamps to 150 watts or less.  The application of safety coating does reduce the lumen output of the lamp and for ultraviolet lamps may reduce the UV output to almost zero.  Given the wide range of safety regulations and diverse needs of many customers such as elevator service companies and daycare facilities it is not possible to inventory all of the safety coated lamps required by our customers.  Please contact a Kelsun sales representative if you cannot locate the safety coated lamp type you require as we can often order the type you need or have a single case of lamps safety coated to support your facility.
