These lamps are known as cold cathode fluorescent which means that the filaments at each end of the lamp coil do not remain heated while the lamp is operational.  Although the appearance is similar to compact spiral fluorescent compact lamps they do have several distinct characteristics.  First, the maximum available wattage is much less than traditional "hot cathode" fluorescent (8 watts versus 42 watts) and secondly, the lifetime is twice the rated average of "hot cathode" lamps (25,000 hours versus 10,000 hours).  The lamps shown here are 8 watt cold cathode lamps which are equivalent to approximately 35 watts of incandescent light.  They have a color temperature of 2700 Kelvin and a rated lifetime of 25,000 hours.  The lamp base is E26 medium screw.
